EMESRT representatives London bound

The International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) Technology Innovation Summit will be held on the 22 – 23 November 2017 in London.

The ICMM is a CEO-led international organisation made up of 33 mining and metals companies, and over 30 regional and commodities associations. ICMM is based in London and has a global reach. While EMESRT and the ICMM have an overlapping membership, both organisations have members who are not members of the other.

While EMESRT was not part of the decision to convene the summit, EMESRT intends to support the initiative and sees it as an opportunity to:

  • Reconfirm that the existing OEM and EMESRT engagement process, methodology and delivery of practical outcomes sets the industry benchmark
  • Ensure that ICMM member companies, through to CEO level, are made aware of past and current project work between OEMs, third party suppliers and EMESRT to improve mobile mining equipment design
  • Ensure that this position is well communicated by OEM and EMESRT conference delegates and understood by all attendees before any future work plan is developed
  • Begin a dialogue about the optimum conference outcomes within the EMESRT Vehicle Interaction Network

“The Conference is to discuss opportunities to improve technologies in mobile mining equipment for safety and environmental outcomes.  It came about due to the health impact of diesel particulate matter in underground operations and where the technology is at present.  There is a push to leverage the acceleration of technology development in this space and other aspects of technology in particular greenhouse and vehicle interaction,” said EMESRT Advisory Group member Tony Egan.

The EMESRT Advisory Group is hoping the conference will have positive global outcomes for everyone including third party providers.
