The fire risks from new technology are not well understood or inadequately assessed, for example:

  • electric or part electric vehicles using downhill regeneration
  • next generation diesel engines (Tier 4 – T4F)
  • new technology for vehicle control and its integration with shutdown and suppression systems
  • remotely operated equipment etc.

This Credible Failure mode is addressed by:
