After an external fuel fire is detected and complications for extinguishing arise from:

  • Inadequate fire suppression system (insufficient volume)
  • FSS medium not suitable for the fire type
  • FSS medium cannot access the source/seat of the fire
  • Malfunctioning or insufficient fire extinguishers
  • Proximity of burning vehicle to a key fuel source (magazine, fuel bay, etc. – which triggers a TARP requirement to withdraw and extinguishing efforts to cease)

 Credible Failure mode is addressed by:
