After an external fuel fire is detected and complications for extinguishing arise from:
- Inadequate fire suppression system (insufficient volume)
- FSS medium not suitable for the fire type
- FSS medium cannot access the source/seat of the fire
- Malfunctioning or insufficient fire extinguishers
- Proximity of burning vehicle to a key fuel source (magazine, fuel bay, etc. – which triggers a TARP requirement to withdraw and extinguishing efforts to cease)
