Link to ACARP – the Australian Coal Industry’s Research Program.

ACARP is a mining research program that has been running in Australia since it was established in 1992. It is 100% owned and funded by all Australian black coal producers through a five cents per tonne levy paid on saleable coal.

ACARP’s research covers a wide range of important areas including improving mobile equipment interaction controls. This work has applications to all mining operations, not just coal. ACARP research is published as reports and covers relevant topics such as:

  • Collision prevention and avoidance
  • Vehicle interaction causal factors
  • Shift work and fatigue
  • Lighting around mobile equipment in underground coal mines

ACARP research has informed and continues to inform thinking and approaches being applied across the global mining industry to improve mobile equipment interaction controls. Reports are available for a charge (free for ACARP members).
